The Parish Council has had bye laws covering its recreation grounds, parks, play areas and open spaces since 1989.

It has decided that it is now time to review those bye laws and bring them up to date.

In particular, the Council wants to make the bye laws less complex and more consistent with modern practice, remove restrictions that are no longer required, reflect changes to the areas owned or controlled by the Council since 1989, and ensure that any bye laws are a robust framework for tackling the unfortunate spates of anti-social behaviour that happen from time to time.

Before it can seek approval from the Secretary of State to consult on revised bye laws, it is required by the relevant Regulations to prepare a statement of regulatory impacts arising from its proposals. It is also required to consult and seek the comments and inputs from local users of these facilities on its preliminary assessment.

Below are links to a summary paper outlining the Council's proposals and its draft impact assessment, together with a links to a Q&A guide and, for information, the current draft of revised bye laws.

Please note that this is not a consultation on the content of the draft bye laws. This will happen later in the year once we have the Secretary of State's consent to consult. We cannot, therefore, accept comments on the content of the draft bye laws at this stage.

If you have any comments on the draft regulatory impact assessment, please send these to the Clerk of the Council either in writing or by e-mail by (Friday 25 August) at the latest.
